How I started making Youtube videos

I really struggled to find a post/blog to see what was needed to start my videos. Honestly speaking in 2013 I started using my IPad 2 to make my YouTube videos. The stress of ‘angling’ the front camera on the IPad 2 was a nightmare.
Fortunately with God’s grace, the majority time I videoed was when my brother or father was around. More importantly, to ensure I was videoing in the day time so the lighting was the best. The worst was when the memory runs out on the iPad half way through videoing – which was a nightmare with half makeup on.
In 2016 I started taking pictures with my iPhone, Snapchat camera as I found it better. The filters were better but the feedback I received was  ‘do not use filters as it doesn’t show your work’. So I stopped using filters and Snapchat camera. Nevertheless videoing with the front camera was as difficult  as the quality wasn’t great and I live in England sun was not always shining.

So then I figured out if I put “two celebrations boxes” and a small tripod from Poundland I was able to get the right angle, however it was too dark. I was using YouTube Editor at the time, however at the end of 2017 I invested into a ring light and this changed my life. Honestly my makeup photos went from 0-100.
My equipment in mid-2017
  1. Tripod from Poundland,
  2. iPhone 6 camera,
  3. “celebration chocolate tins (in order to reach the correct angle) “
  4. Neewer - Ring light.
The set up for my videos.
  • Angle the camera – using props to create height
  • Plan the makeup look, so I wasn’t wasting time on the video
  • Position the Ring light
  • Position myself and ask a family member to ensure the camera was in the right position.
  • Using a plain background in my lounge.

Looking at these amazing Youtubers with the amazing lighting and sound effects, I wanted to create my videos as well like this. So then I converted my room to have a set up. I could record any time of the day as the ring light was enough. However YouTube Editor’s feature was removed so I was stuck, so I forced to use IMovie which changed my life. It made my videos so much better, more professional and I was able to edit them on my phone. Upload them straight to Instagram and YouTube.
Next journey which i shall update you on as I have bought a camera but I need to figure computer, settings and editors.

I think that this is a very inspirational journey for all of us. I mean, there are people who have no idea what it means to dedicate your life into something. This path is not as easy as others, in fact, there are lots of uncertainties to it, but that is fine. I believe that you are capable of a lot of things. I know that you are a person that I can trust when all of this happens, man.
